Larry R. Holt, DDS graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1978. He has enjoyed thirty seven years of practice in North Carolina. Holt retired from private practice in 2008. He works with Drake Precision Dental Laboratory as Director of Clinical Education and Research. Dr. Holt lectures both locally and nationally. He interacts with technicians bringing clinical perspective to everyday laboratory procedures. Dr. Holt provides consultant services to clients of Drake Laboratory regarding all facets of restorative dentistry. He continues to provide patient care on a regular basis.
Dr. Holt is an Adjunct Professor at UNC School of Dentistry. He teaches in the graduate operative clinics, the AEGD program and in the undergraduate comprehensive care clinics. Holt also lectures for UNC in post graduate continuing education courses. He has been a featured clinician on several occasions for Nobel Biocare. Holt was one of five dentists from the United States to perform live treatment at the Nobel Biocare World Conference 2007.
Dr. Holt is a “Professor Visitante” at La Universidad Catolica de Santa Maria, Arequipa, Peru. He has lectured internationally in both Peru and India. Dr. Holt presented at the Royal College of Physicians in London, England and at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr. Holt has lectured extensively in the Southeast.
Holt is currently on the editorial board for Compendium, Inside Dentistry and Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Holt has recently published articles on impression techniques to gain predictable success, replacement of congenitally missing teeth in adolescents, and photography for case evaluation. His latest articles are on treating the Class II denture patient and digital dentures.
Dr. Holt is active in Charlotte area MOMS clinics and regularly treats indigent and underprivileged patients with Dental Lifeline (Donated Dental Services).
Dr. Holt is a member of the ADA, AGD, NC Dental Society, Envision Continuum, Spear Study Club and is past president of the Forum for Contemporary Esthetic Dentistry. Holt is the director of a Spear Study Club.
